The pandemic has highlighted how important telecoms networks are to society.  Nokia’s Network Infrastructure group is at the heart of a revolution to bring more and faster network capacity to people worldwide through our ambition, innovation, and technical expertise.


In this role, you will provide technical & business pre-sales consulting services to major telecommunications providers based on the Nokia WaveSuite and NSP suite of Optics and IP + Optics Automation, Reporting, and SDN products.  Specifically, you support the following network areas: core, metro/regional, access, data center interconnect, mobile backhaul, Network Function Virtualization, and Software Defined Networking.  Utilizing the NOKIA Automation Suite, you will perform complex Optics SW architectures (including related services, such as L1/OTN Wave Services, L0 wave lengths routing over ROADM/GMPLS networks, L2 MEF etc.) and pre-sales support.


As a member of our team you will:
Be a subject matter expert on the Nokia WaveSuite Optics and NSP IP+Optics Automation, Analytics and SDN products
Provide technical & business Pre-Sales consulting services to telecommunication service providers looking to simplify, control and automate the management of their transport networks, primarily for solutions for networks in core, metro/regional, access, data center interconnect, mobile backhaul, Network Function Virtualization, and Software Defined Networking


Take a hands-on approach to demonstrate the WaveSuite Automation Suite’s features in performing complex Optics and IP+Optics  SW architectures (including related services, such as L1/OTN Wave Services, L0 wave lengths routing over ROADM/GMPLS networks, L2 MEF etc.)
Perform customer training presentations, whiteboard elaborations, and demo events for Network Management and automation technologies specific to pre-sales business development, including a demonstrated ability to translate technical capabilities of product/solutions to business drivers and explain the customer’s strategic objectives


What you will learn and contribute to
Assess and understand our customer’s technical network architectures, operational procedures, business drivers, current challenges and objectives AND understand Nokia’s product functions, operations, capabilities, roadmaps to carefully influence the customer to engage further with Nokia, ideally culminating in the purchase of Nokia product & solutions


Become an expert for Nokia products in the IP/Optical Networks business group: Optics and IP+Optics focused components of Nokia WaveSuite applications and Network Services Platform  (NSP) and management of 1830 and WaveLight  portfolio  and emerging technologies such as ZR, ZR+ Optics
Influence Nokia teams and organizations internally to align with the customer’s requirements and expectations


Communicate with customers to deliver product features and roadmap updates, and timely response on quality and security issues, and consultation for professional services requests
Become a trusted advisor on Optics management & Optics and IP+Optics automation projects for customers and internal Nokia organizations: sales, professional services, project management and engineering teams


Your skills and experience 

You have:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science or closely related technical fields or equivalent work experience
5+ years of experience as an Optics Network Management/Automation focused Consulting Engineer, field engineer, systems engineer, sales engineer, consulting systems engineer, technical marketing engineer, or closely related fields related to operations of a network
5+ years of experience in Network Management /Automation products with preference toward NSP/WaveSuite in the management of Optics and IP+Optics related technologies, i.e. SNMP, NETCONF/YANG, T-API…


3+ years of experience working with high and low-level designs/solutions in Optics Network Management/Automation, preparation and execution of customer trials and proof-of-concept tests, feature planning, network architecture design, OSS/BSS integration design, platform resource planning, and creation of device/service configurations
Solid analytical, communication and problem-solving skills to overcome technical challenges to satisfy business requirements


It would be nice if you have:
Experience working with the following Nokia products, earlier versions of the following Nokia products: NSP/NFM-T/NRC-T WaveSuite, or any of our direct competitors’ (Ciena, Infinera, Cisco, Fujitzu, etc.) similar competitive products
Familiarity with Optical performances design and ROADM/GMPLS network restoration architecture
Experience with development and/or API integration via REST, RESTCONF/YANG, Kafka, NetConf, SOAP/XML, YAML, YAQL, Javascript
Experience in facilitating the shift toward NFV (Virtualization), cloud technologies, and deployment of cloud-native applications in Kubernetes & containerized environments
