The Role: Insurance Verification Specialist

Location: Remote

About This Role:

With our continued growth, we are seeking an Insurance Verification Specialist to join our growing Revenue Cycle Team. The primary responsibility of the Insurance Verification Specialist is to assist with pre-authorization of insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits by calling insurance companies manually or through the insurance verification website. This role requires an Insurance Verification Specialist with multi-state par and non-par experience as well as multi state Medicaid and Managed Medicaid experience.


What You’ll Do:

Verifies detailed insurance benefits, medical necessity, and authorization/referral guidelines, consistently prioritizing and following the established verification process
Read and interpret insurance Explanations of Benefits (EOB)/Remittance Advice (RA) with understanding and take appropriate steps to resolve issues.
Obtain patient responsibility, research payer coverage criteria and any required prior authorization requirements


Verify all information obtained is correctly documented in the patient’s account, in the correct format.
Contact client to obtain the correct insurance information
Obtain pre-authorizations as needed
Communicate with insurance providers via phone and electronically via web portals to validate patient benefits, check authorization requirements, and review authorization status.

Passionate for our mission to transform healthcare for all children
2+ years experience in insurance verification with experience in Medicaid, Managed Medicaid and commercial payors.


Experience navigating Medicaid state portals in California and /or Florida strongly preferrred, experience navigating commercial insurance portals
1+ years or more experience with Google Suites (gsheets, google docs)
2+ years / Associate Degree, preferred
1+ years experience with Change Healthcare
Competency in customer relationship skills
Ability to understand how job performance affects the outcomes of key performance indicators such as denials and write-offs.
